Unpopular opinion: stop relying on red/green icons for success/failure states
I work on dashboards for a logistics company and kept hearing "we can just use red and green" for shipment status. Took me three weeks to convince them to add icons like checkmarks and X's - now even my colorblind coworker can tell at a glance which loads are delayed. Why do so many designers still skip this basic fix?

Icon + color is basic 101, not a hot take.

Right, exactly, this is like the first thing you learn in any design intro. I remember messing up contrast so bad on my first flyer for my side gig, it was unreadable. It’s wild how many people skip over the real basics and then wonder why their stuff looks off.
