Serious question, has anyone compared a red/green badge pair against a shape-based one at small sizes?
I built a status tag two ways last week for a dashboard at work: one set used red and green pills, the other used a triangle and a circle with the text label. On a 24px tag the colored pills blurred together for my coworker Dan, who has deuteranopia, but the shape version stayed clear even scaled down. It came down to size, the color cue needs more pixels to register than a silhouette does. Curious if anyone here keeps colors for large buttons and switches to shapes only below some pixel size, or just uses both every time.
