Red and purple icons on our office map, my coworker spotted it first

The office update map they sent out last month uses red dots for the new meeting rooms and purple dots for the quiet zones. My coworker with deuteranopia mentioned he couldn't tell them apart, so he walked to the wrong room twice during the town hall. I checked the colors on a simulator and they basically merge into the same shade for him. We're making a new version with patterns added, like stripes and dots, but I'm wondering if there are better standard conventions for this. Does anyone have a go-to color pair or symbol combo they use for crowded building layouts?

Did you check the WCAG guidelines on color contrast? Those saved us.
