Overheard a guy at the hardware store and it changed how I label stuff

I was picking up paint samples last Saturday when this older dude told his friend that using shape labels instead of color ones saved him from buying the wrong PVC primer twice. That clicked for me. I always used red and green text on my workshop bins, but a colorblind buddy of mine kept grabbing the wrong drill bits. Swapped to triangle and circle stickers with text underneath. Took about 30 minutes to relabel everything. Has anyone else switched to pattern-based labels for tools or shelves?

@avery721 yeah that little tweak can save a lot of headaches. I did something similar with my garage bins - used different sized circles instead of colors for socket sizes. Makes it way easier when you're grabbing stuff in a hurry or if someone else needs to find something. Did you go with shapes or something else for the labels?

ben shah said "makes it way easier when you're grabbing stuff in a hurry" which is the whole point, but I bet nobody's thought about labeling your tool cabinet drawers too so you don't have to open five before finding the right wrench lol.

Isn't it funny how one little trick can make life easier in ways you never thought of?
