Overheard a coworker say 'just use red and green for status indicators' today
I had to speak up in our Monday meeting at ADP when the project lead suggested red/green for dashboard alerts. My boss is tritan colorblind and literally cannot tell the difference between those two hues. I showed them how adding icon symbols like checkmarks and X marks fixed the whole issue instantly. Has anyone else had to correct a team on this specific combo?

wait, your boss is actually tritan colorblind and they still tried to push red and green through? that's wild, glad you stepped in with the icons.

and honestly it's even crazier because tritanopia isn't that common, right? so it's not like this is something most bosses would even think about, but the fact that they still went with red and green after knowing that is just baffling. i mean, i get that people get attached to their design ideas, but at a certain point you gotta just listen to the person who's literally telling you they can't see the difference. it's good that they had you there to actually make the icons work though, because without that extra layer it's basically just a guessing game for them.
