My old design lead said "if it works in grayscale, it works" and my dashboard crash proved her right
Six months ago my lead at the Austin office said to squint at every chart in black and white before shipping. I ignored it because our red and green status dots looked fine on my monitor. Then a client with deuteranopia called and said the whole status column looked like one flat gray blob, and he'd been reading 12 failed jobs as passed for two days. Now I convert every screen to grayscale first and add icons next to the dots. What's your go-to test for catching this before a client does?
