My colorblind-friendly dashboard failed during a client presentation yesterday

I spent hours making a dashboard with green and red status indicators, thinking the patterns I added would be enough. But the client literally said 'I cant tell which ones are warnings.' Next time I'm just using text labels and icons from the start.

Hold up, patterns add enough if you make them obvious like diagonal stripes or crosshatching, not just different shades of the same color. Maybe the real issue was the patterns blended in or weren't distinct enough, not the whole approach being wrong.

@Sandra_sullivan84 I get what you mean about bold patterns, but ive had execs glaze over at anything that isn't text or clear symbols. Patterns still rely on the person noticing the difference fast, which fell apart for me before text labels wouldnt.
