Just found out 8% of men have some form of color blindness and it blew my mind

I was reading through some research from the US National Library of Medicine last night and saw that roughly 1 in 12 men have color vision deficiency, but only 1 in 200 women. That stat surprised me because I always thought it was more balanced. It makes me wonder if we should design differently for male-dominated apps versus female ones, or if that's a bad idea. What do you all think - should we focus on accessibility for the majority of users or just design for everyone equally?

1 in 12 men" is crazy when you actually stop and think about it, but I wonder if that 8% is skewed lower because so many guys never get tested and just bump through life thinking everyone sees the same colors.

Well, that's a cheery thought - a whole bunch of guys out there colorblind and just thinking the world is really dull.

Right there with you, that 8% stat really made me stop and think too. My buddy actually found out he was colorblind in his 30s after his wife pointed out he kept wearing mismatched socks. He thought everyone just guessed which colors went together. It's wild how many guys just never realize it because their brains have been compensating for so long. Makes me think we should just design everything to be as clear as possible for everyone instead of picking one group over another.
