Finally changed my mind about colorblind friendly maps

I went to the Portland Art Museum last weekend. Saw their wayfinding signs with icons AND different line patterns for the galleries. No color labels needed. Made me realize how much I rely on just green and red for maps. Anyone else ditch pure color coding after seeing a specific example?

Did I misread my own city map again just yesterday because green and red look the same to me?

Wait, you mean there's actual map setups out there that don't rely on color at all? I used to roll my eyes at people saying maps needed to be colorblind friendly, thought it was overthinking it. But seeing those icons and patterns in person really does make way more sense.
