The paint at the new library in Greenville made me rethink my whole palette.

They used a deep teal on the main wall, but the trim is a warm cream, not white. It makes the whole space feel calm but not cold. Has anyone else found a public space with a color combo that really worked? I'm stuck on a project and need fresh ideas.

Gotta disagree hard here. Neutrals are bland and forgettable, that's exactly why so many public spaces feel like waiting rooms. That teal and cream combo has timeless roots in Craftsman and Art Deco design, not some trend that'll fade. Walk into the Greenville library and tell me it feels dated next to the gray-on-gray municipal building downtown. A real color scheme gives a space personality and makes people actually want to hang out there. Beige says "we gave up," not "we thought about it.

Calm but not cold" sounds like a design buzzword. That teal and cream combo would just look dated in a few years. Public spaces should stick to neutral colors that don't try to make a statement.

Guess we'll just paint everything beige and call it a day.
