Switched to a limited palette for my last 3 client logos and wow

I used to pull from the whole color wheel trying to match every brand request, but after a senior guy named Raj told me to stick to 3 colors max for a bakery logo in June, my designs actually look more cohesive now. Has anyone else found that cutting your color choices forces better results?

...and here I was thinking more colors meant more creativity, turns out I was just making my life harder for no reason. Honestly, my last logo before the switch looked like a unicorn threw up on it. Now I actually feel like I know what I'm doing instead of just throwing stuff at the wall.

@finleybutler nailed it. I cut my palette down to three colors after a client told me my branding looked like a circus. Now everything is way easier. I just pick one main color, one to support it, and one accent. That covers logos, websites, even business cards without stressing over what goes with what. You're right about the unicorn thing. I had a design that used seven colors and it looked like a disaster. Keeping it simple actually saves time too.

Honestly Raj's advice applies to everything, even my closet looks better with 3 colors.
