Spent 9 hours color correcting a bakery menu in Tacoma and now I can't tell if the croissants look golden or burnt
I shot photos for a small bakery in Tacoma on Tuesday and spent 9 hours tweaking the warm tones on their menu board because the pastry shots kept reading too orange on my monitor. One side of me says trust the eyedropper numbers and keep the saturation below 15% so the bread looks real, the other side says warm food photos sell better even if the color is a little off from life. I ended up printing 4 proof sheets at the FedEx on 6th Ave and the baker liked the most saturated one, which is the exact opposite of what I would have picked. So which side wins here, matching what the food actually looks like, or pushing the warmth because that is what makes people hungry? Curious what you all do when the person paying you has totally different taste than the color numbers say.
