Spent $300 on a custom color profile for my monitor and it was a total game changer

I always thought my screen was fine, but my prints never matched until I got this done. Anyone have a cheaper way to get similar results for client presentations?

Wait... a custom profile is great for your own monitor, but it won't fix prints for clients. The real issue is your file's color space. If you send files in sRGB, their screens and any print shop will see it totally different... a custom profile only fixes the color on your one specific screen. You need to convert your work to the right color profile for the final output, like Adobe RGB for pro prints or just stick with sRGB for digital stuff.

Oh man, zarak18 is totally right about the color space thing. But here's a weird one I ran into: my room's lighting was messing with my eyes. I had a big window behind me and my screen looked totally different in the morning vs at night. Got some cheap bias lights for behind the monitor and it made my on-screen colors feel way more steady, which helped me edit closer to what prints look like. It's not a full fix but it's a good start before you even get to profiles.
