Shoutout to the guy at the paint counter in Boise who fixed my palette with one wrong color
I was building a 4 color chart for a client site last month and everything looked muddy and flat no matter what I did, so I went to a hardware store to grab swatches and complain. The paint guy grabbed a burnt orange chip and put it next to my blue, which I thought was a joke, and it made the blue pop like 10 times better than any of the safe options I had picked. Does anyone else keep a totally random color on hand just to test the rest of their palette against it?
Wait, burnt orange?? Of all the colors in that whole hardware store he picked orange to sit next to blue? That is wild because those are like opposite each other on the color wheel, so your brain reads them as brighter somehow. I would have laughed at him too but clearly the man knew what he was doing. Now I kind of want to walk into a paint aisle and just grab the ugliest chip I can find.
