Question about paying $75 for a custom color palette service before starting a client job

I dropped $75 on one of those custom palette generators that promise perfect harmonies for brand work. The palette looked great on screen, but when I printed test swatches on coated stock, two of the five colors shifted way too close to each other. It messed up the hierarchy in the client's packaging mockup. On the flip side, that same service saved me three hours of fiddling with wheel tools on the next job, so I'm torn. Anyone else ever thrown cash at a color tool that either paid off or burned you in the real world of print or web?

Yeah, that's the real trick, screen colors LIE and coated stock tells the truth every single time.
