Oh man, I got so confused for a second. I thought you meant like, sunglasses. You're talking about light bulbs, right? The soft yellow ones instead of the harsh white kind. That does make a huge difference, it feels way more cozy. My family used the big bright overhead light once and it felt like we were being questioned by cops, not playing Monopoly.

White light can be cozy too if you place it right.

Wait, have you ever tried playing a complex board game in dim, yellow light? Trying to read tiny text on cards or see the board clearly is a nightmare. That harsh overhead light Paige mentioned sounds awful, but you need something bright enough to actually see what you're doing. A good, bright white light in a lamp off to the side gives you the clarity to play without the interrogation vibe. Soft light just makes me squint and slows the whole game down.
