My neighbor laughed at my color palette and I actually changed it after seeing her house
She said my living room felt like a doctor's waiting room with all the cool blues and greens, and after I walked through her place with those warm terracotta accents I realized she had a point, has anyone else had a random person totally shift your approach to picking colors?

Hold up a second though. I had a neighbor pull something similar on me and I almost bought into it, but then I realized warm colors can make a room feel smaller and darker, especially if you don't get a ton of natural light. You might want to check how much sunlight your living room actually gets before you go full terracotta. Cool blues and greens actually work better in some spaces and can make a room feel bigger and more open. Not saying your neighbor was wrong for her house, but her setup might be totally different from yours. Trust your own eyes a little more, you know?

Yeah, I feel that. My last apartment had this deep navy blue living room that people kept telling me to repaint, but you know what it actually made the space feel huge because it just swallowed all the shadows. That said, I also once painted a tiny bathroom a really warm coral and it looked like I was trying to dry my clothes in a furnace. So I guess the real lesson is just don't take decor advice from anyone who hasn't seen your actual space in person, including me.
