I spent $180 on a color wheel course before realizing the free Adobe one taught me more
Honestly I feel dumb even typing this. Back in March I paid $180 for an online color theory course because the sales page had all these fancy charts and promised I'd finally "understand harmony." Six weeks later I still could not pick a decent palette for a client logo, so out of frustration I opened the free Adobe Color basics videos on YouTube. Ngl, in about 40 minutes I learned more about complementary and split complementary schemes than I did in the whole paid thing, mostly because they showed real examples instead of just talking about hue angles. The kicker is the paid course never once mentioned that you should test your palette in grayscale to check your value contrast, which is like the number one thing that fixed my work. So yeah, $180 gone and I'm now the guy telling people to just watch free stuff and practice on 99designs briefs. If you dropped cash on a color class, did it actually help or did you learn more from just messing around in Figma?
