That time a colorblind friend told me my portfolio site was unreadable
He pointed at a green button on a red background and said 'there is a button here but I can't tell where it ends', and now I run every mockup through two different contrast tools before sharing.

DAMN I literally just had this happen to me last week! A client told me they couldn't read the text on my landing page and I was like "what do you mean the contrast is fine" and then they sent me a screenshot in grayscale and I was SHOOK. Green on red is like THE WORST combo for like 5% of guys out there apparently. I immediately went and downloaded two different contrast checkers after that too.

Used to be one of those designers who thought contrast was just about making things look "clean" and ignored the actual numbers. After running some of my old designs through a checker, I realized I had been making stuff hard to read for a ton of people without even knowing it. That client basically saved your next project from the same mistake, way better to catch it early than get that awkward feedback later.
