My dark mode file manager finally passed at 4.5 to 1 | Color Contrast Checks

I've been rebuilding a small file manager app for my local library and kept ignoring the contrast warnings on the sidebar. Last week a patron with low vision mentioned she couldn't see the folder names clearly, so I ran the checker again. Turns out my grays were sitting at 2.8 to 1 because I picked colors that looked fine on my new monitor. Swapped to a slightly darker background and lighter text, now it's at 4.5 and she said it's way easier to read. Has anyone else had luck convincing clients to fix contrast before a complaint comes in?
