My dark blue text on black background looked fine to me but a user with astigmatism couldn't read it

Last week a guy in a forum told me my site's body text was a nightmare. I used #0a0a5e on #000000 and he said it vibrates for him. Anyone else dealt with this kind of color combo issue?

Swimming around on the edges" is such a perfect way to describe it, I'm gonna steal that. I mean, here I am thinking I'm being a cool designer with my edgy dark blue on black, but really I'm just giving people free motion sickness. It's ironic cause I spend all this time picking colors that look "sleek" and completely miss that some people's eyes are literally fighting just to read it. Guess it's back to the drawing board to find something that actually works for everyone, not just my own eyeballs.

Used to think dark themes were just a preference thing, didn't realize how physical it could be for some people. A buddy of mine has astigmatism and showed me his screen with my old color setup, the text was literally swimming around on the edges. Switched to a lighter blue on the same dark background and he said it was night and day difference, no more strain at all.
