Just bought a color contrast checker plugin for $25 and it caught a huge issue
I was finishing a website for a local cafe and thought my teal text on a light gray background looked fine. The plugin flagged it instantly, showing the contrast ratio was way too low for people with vision issues. I changed the text to a darker blue, which passed the check. Has anyone else found a good tool that catches stuff you'd miss?

Oh man, "looked fine" is my design motto (until someone points out the obvious problem). I once had a site live for a week with light gray text on a white background. My friend with perfect vision asked if it was supposed to be invisible.

But how many people actually have that level of vision trouble? Seems like overkill.

Really? Light gray on white? That's like trying to read a ghost... I can't believe someone let that go live for a week. That's the kind of thing that gives designers nightmares, man. I've seen some rough color combos but that's next level invisible. Just thinking about trying to read it makes my eyes hurt...
