I finally figured out why my site looked washed out on phones
Spent 3 years tweaking colors on my monitor, then last week a friend pulled out his phone and showed me my own site looked like gray soup. Ran it through a free contrast checker and found my text-to-bg ratio was only 2.5:1 instead of the 4.5:1 minimum. Anyone else have a rude awakening when they checked on a different screen?

The real kicker for me was finding out my eyes aren't what they used to be. I had to ask my niece to check my site for me because I couldn't see the difference myself. Turns out my monitor's brightness was cranked way up to compensate for my aging vision.

Oh Felix, that is such a relatable struggle. I remember when I had to hold my phone way out in front of me just to see my own posts clearly. I feel for you, @felix_martin56, because I've been there too. My mom went through the same thing last year, she had her monitor brightness so high it actually hurt my eyes when I visited. It's funny how we don't realize our eyes are changing until someone else points it out.
