Appreciation post for the grocery store that forced me to rethink my color choices

Stopped into a Food Giant in Nashville last Tuesday to grab some things. Their weekly ad flyer was this light gray text on a pale yellow background and I literally couldn't read half the sale prices. Had to pull out my phone to zoom in. That moment made me realize I've been doing the same thing on my own flyers for clients. Ran home and checked my last 3 projects with a contrast checker and two of them failed. Has anyone else had a random real world sign or ad make you rethink your whole approach to color?

My buddy Steve once redesigned his whole menu after squinting at a diner's breakfast specials sign.

@barnes.kai going to guess Steve's diner sign was a real wakeup call. That Food Giant flyer you described sounds rough. Light gray on pale yellow is a crime against eyesight honestly. I've caught myself doing similar stuff with my own garage's service flyers in the past. A good contrast checker saves you from making people squint like that.
