3 of my 5 "gray" text colors failed against white, and I had no idea
I ran a quick contrast check on my own site last night and half my gray text failed against the white background. A light gray looks fine to me on my monitor, but my dad squinted at my laptop and asked if the text was even loaded. That was a gut punch. I had 3 shades of gray doing the same job and none of them hit 4.5:1, which is the number I learned after poking around. Now I'm redoing the whole type setup around one dark gray instead of five slightly different ones. If your muted text sits below 4.5:1, how did you pick the shade that actually works? I'm curious what process people trust here.
