Went to a local library's free coding workshop and saw something that made me pause
I was at the downtown library branch on Tuesday for their advertised 'Intro to Python' session. The instructor was using a website called 'CodeQuick' for the exercises. I noticed the site asked for way too much personal info just to run a simple practice script, like my phone number and address. It felt wrong for a beginner lesson. Has anyone else run into sketchy learning sites at public events?

Chill, it's probably just their sign-in system.

That's super sketchy and would make me uncomfortable too. Public workshops should use simpler, more private tools.

Totally agree with you @ryan_stone45, they should just use a big jar of names like a third grade classroom. Feels like they're trying to collect data for some weird marketing list instead of just picking a volunteer. I'd be looking for the exit too if someone handed me a tablet for that, no thanks. Just give me a sticky note and a hat to draw from, problem solved.
