Man, that's a rough one. 40 hours of watching a machine throw a tantrum and you getting nothing but a headache and a lighter wallet. At least now you know the cost of "maybe it'll work if I just tweak this one thing" ten times in a row.

Lost 40 hours on one part" - that phrase catches my eye. But you didn't really lose 40 hours. You spent 40 hours on it and got nothing useful at the end. That's wasted time, not lost time. Big difference. Lost time would be if the machine went down or the power went out. You chose to keep running a bad setup. I learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I pull the plug after 4 hours if something's not right. Saves a lot of headache.
