The day I noticed my offsets were drifting after 14 hours of running
Was running a big batch of aluminum plates on the VMC last Tuesday, like 340 parts. Around hour 14 I measured one and it was off by almost 3 thou. Thought it was the material at first. But then I checked the thermal growth on the spindle housing, it had climbed to 108 degrees. Same part at hour 3 was dead on. Now I break long runs into sections and re-zero after every 100 parts. Does anyone else track spindle temp on marathon jobs or just wing it?
