The $80 dial indicator that caught a bad setup before it cost me a job

Last month I picked up a Mitutoyo dial indicator from a shop in Toledo that was closing down. I spent $80 on it, which felt steep for a used tool, but it flagged a spindle misalignment that would have ruined a 40-piece run of aluminum brackets. That one catch paid for the tool three times over in scrap and rework time. Has anyone else had a used tool that turned out to be worth every penny?

Paid for itself three times over" is how most good tools work, most cheap ones don't.
