PSA: Check your coolant concentration after a shop visit

I was at the new industrial supply place in Tacoma yesterday and saw them filling a bulk coolant tank with straight water. The guy said they 'water it down for summer' to save money. My machine ran hot and left marks on a 4140 steel job last month, and I bet that's why. Has anyone else gotten bad premix from a supplier recently?

Spot a shop doing that and I'd walk right out. Watering down coolant ruins its lubrication and rust protection, not just its cooling. It's like expecting a weak soap to cut grease, it just won't work right. That sticky residue and poor tool life people complain about often starts with bad mix. Always test your concentration with a refractometer, even with "pre-mix".

See this everywhere now. People skip basics to save a buck, then wonder why stuff breaks.
