I was setting up a part on our old Bridgeport mill and realized I'd been using the wrong edge finder pressure for years.

I was showing a new guy how to find a part zero, and he asked why I pushed so hard with the edge finder. I looked it up in the manual and it said to use a light touch, just enough to see the wobble stop. Has anyone else had a basic habit they had to unlearn after seeing someone else do it?

Oh man, my buddy did something like that with a drill press. He was using way too much cutting oil for years until his new apprentice asked about the mess. Felt pretty silly when he checked the old guidebook.

Sounds like his guidebook was collecting more dust than his drill press!
