DAE have a lead hand who counts tools before he trusts a new setup?
Worked a job last Thursday with a guy named Reggie who has been running a Haas for 19 years, and before he touched my offsets he counted every tool in the turret twice. I figured he was just slow, but then he showed me how a missing 3/8 end mill from the tray had been the reason for a scrapped batch two years back at a shop in Akron. What got me was when he said he would rather look dumb for 90 seconds than explain a $2,400 mistake to the boss. I have been running my own checks the same way since, and it turns out I catch way more than I thought I would. Do any of you have a habit like that, something that looks like overkill but saves your tail?
