Tried to save money with RGB PDFs for a yard sign, got a surprise
I sent a 3 foot by 2 foot yard sign to a shop in Austin last month as an RGB PDF because their website said they accept anything. It came back with this weird neon green where I wanted dark blue, and the shop guy just shrugged and said "that's what you get for skipping the proof." Anyone else ever assume a print shop would auto-convert your files, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?

that's what you get for skipping the proof" hit me right in the wallet. I did the same thing with a banner for a car show, sent over an RGB file with a bright red background and it came back looking like orange sherbet. The shop said they tried to warn me but their email got buried in spam. Now I just convert everything to CMYK myself before I send it, even if they say they accept anything. Learned that lesson the hard way too, trust me.
