TIL that "rich black" isn't the same as pure black on press
I've been sending files with 100% black for dark backgrounds for years (like a dummy). Last week a printer in Minneapolis called me out after a 500-run business card order came back looking washed out and muddy. Apparently you need to mix in some cyan and magenta (like 60/40/40) to get that deep solid black that actually prints well. Has anyone else learned this the hard way or was I just late to the party?

July '21 was the worst month of my life for that exact reason.
