Ran a proof on newsprint last week and the blacks came out greenish gray
I used RGB black by accident instead of rich black, and man it looked awful on that porous stock. Does anyone know a good default CMYK mix for dark inks on uncoated paper?

Botched that myself last week, felt like a rookie again.

Jumped right into that same trap last summer when I was running a small batch of postcards. Used 100% black on uncoated stock and got that same garbage grayish green tint, it looked like mud. I switched to a mix of 60C 40M 40Y 100K for dark text on uncoated paper and it actually came out solid. The extra cyan and magenta help kill that greenish cast that plain black gets on porous stuff. Also started bumping up the total ink coverage to around 260-280% for uncoated stock, just gotta be careful not to flood the paper. Still stings when I think about all those wasted sheets though.
