I let a client send a 4-color logo as RGB to a 2-color print shop in Tulsa and the shirts came out purple
Two years back I was doing a small run of 50 shirts for a gym in Tulsa and the owner wanted navy and gold. I sent the shop a PNG straight out of Illustrator because he swore the printer said it was fine. The run came back and every navy part had a purple halo because the shop converted it to CMYK on their end with a default profile nobody checked. I ate the reprint cost of $310 and now I flat out refuse to send anything but a Pantone number and a PDF with the right profile baked in. Clients hate it and tell me I'm being difficult, but I'd rather be difficult than pay for 50 more shirts. What's your rule for handing files to a shop that isn't yours?
