Watched a screen printer in Kansas City fix muddy greens with one weird trick at a trade show
I was at a print expo in Kansas City two months ago and this guy was demoing a four color job where the green kept coming out brown. He bumped his yellow screen up to 85 lpi and dropped the cyan by 15%, and suddenly the shirt matched the mockup almost perfect. Has anyone else messed with halftone line counts to fix that muddy green problem?
That yellow screen trick sounds like the same head scratcher I ran into doing a batch of school shirts last fall. The green in the logo kept going olive no matter what I did with the ink mix, so I finally dropped my mesh count from 156 to 110 on the yellow and it cleaned right up. Something about laying down more ink on one screen changes how the overlap reads on the shirt. Line count and mesh count both mess with the same thing, just from different ends.
