Why does nobody talk about paper curl on cheap inkjet rolls?

Used to fight flutter and mis-feeds for years, blamed the printer. Switched to storing rolls upright instead of flat last month, no more curl at the edges. Anyone else fix feed issues with storage or am I the only one pulling hair over $30 rolls from Staples?

Storing upright helps, but the curl is usually from how the roll sits on the spindle. If the paper's been wound tight for months, the outer layers keep that memory. Upright storage fixes the edge crimp because the weight isn't pressing on one side. Staples rolls are fine, they just need a day or two to relax flat before you load them. Try unrolling a few feet and letting it hang overnight, that did more for me than any storage trick.
