Pro tip: I used to fix paper jams with a butter knife until a tech in Reno showed me the real trick
Last Tuesday my old HP LaserJet jammed for the 4th time in one week and I did what I always did, grabbed a butter knife out of the kitchen drawer and fished the crumpled sheet out of the back. Worked fine for years until I scratched the fuser roller and it started leaving a gray streak down every page. A repair tech named Dave in Reno charged me $85 and when he opened the back panel he just laughed and said "man, you been stabbing this thing?" He showed me the actual release tabs on the rear door that drop the fuser down so paper slides right out with your fingers. Took him 20 seconds and he didn't even need the knife. I've been printing invoices for my wife's candle shop for 3 years doing it the dumb way and never once read the little sticker inside the door. Now I keep the butter knife in the drawer where it belongs and the gray streak is gone after a new roller. Anyone else learn a simple fix way too late because nobody ever told you the obvious thing?
