Last Tuesday my plotter chewed through a $200 roll of canvas
Had a huge poster for a client in Portland. The feed rollers grabbed the edge wrong and just kept pulling it in while the print head kept going. Has anyone else had a plotter just eat a job for no clear reason?

Tape the leading edge down to the take-up reel before you hit print. That little trick saved me from losing a whole roll of vinyl last month when the feed sensor glitched. It is cheap insurance compared to watching your material turn into spaghetti.

Huh, that makes sense actually. But does the tape leave any sticky residue on the vinyl after you peel it off? I had a roll of Oracal 651 that got wrecked because the tape I used left a gummy mess that wouldn't come off without damaging the material. What kind of tape do you use that doesn't do that?
