Large format ink tank burst at a client site in Austin

I was running a banner print for a store opening last Tuesday when the magenta cartridge blew its seal. Ink sprayed across the roll and onto the carpet, looked like a crime scene from a slasher flick. Quick actions: I killed power to the printer first, then hit the emergency stop on the roll feeder. Took me 90 minutes to swap the cartridge, clean the printhead, and re-roll 40 feet of ruined vinyl. The client was chill about it, but I lost the whole afternoon and had to reprint overnight. Has anyone else had an OEM cartridge just fail like that, or did I get a bad batch from a storage issue?

Man, that magenta blowout sounds like a total nightmare. I felt for you when you said it looked like a crime scene, because I've had a cyan tank do basically the same thing in the middle of a rush job, and it's just chaos. You did the right thing killing the power first, too many people freeze up and make it worse. Really sucks that you lost the whole afternoon and had to pull an overnight, that's the kind of thing that just drains you. I'd guess it's more of a bad batch or maybe the cartridge sat too long in a hot warehouse, since OEM stuff usually holds up. But yeah, you handled it way better than most would, and I'm glad the client stayed cool about it.
