Pro tip: a buddy in Portland told me to stop renaming layers, and my file list finally makes sense
Six months ago my friend Dana, who does UI work out of Portland, told me to quit renaming layers in my design files and just use groups with clear names instead. I ignored her for a while because renaming felt like the careful thing to do, but my files kept getting slower to open and I could never find anything anyway. Last week I finally went back through one messy project, deleted all the layer names, and grouped stuff by section (header, cards, footer) instead. The whole file dropped from 240 layers to about 30 groups and I found a stray text box in under a minute. Has anyone else found that fewer names actually made things easier to find?
