Paid $200 for a folder system that made things worse

Last fall I bought this whole color coded folder planner from Etsy, like 50 digital templates and a binder system. Spent like 3 days setting it up for all my client projects, then realized it was way too rigid for how I actually work. I ended up with 12 empty categories and missed a deadline because I was too busy maintaining the system. Has anyone else dumped money on a fancy organization setup that just added more work? What did you switch to that actually stuck?
