My Dropbox hit 4,000 files and I fixed it with one dumb folder called MISC
I work as a freelance graphic designer and my Dropbox had grown into this black hole of old client work, random downloads, and screenshots of things I meant to look at later. I tried color coded folders and a naming system with dates in front, but nothing stuck because I could never remember which version of the system I was using that month. Out of pure laziness one Friday I made a single folder called MISC and dumped everything I was unsure about into it, and weirdly that was the thing that worked. Knowing there was one place for all my "I will deal with this later" junk meant I quit making messy folders everywhere else, and when MISC got too full I would set aside 20 minutes on a Tuesday to sort it down. Has anyone else found that giving up on being perfect is what actually keeps their files clean?
