Hot take: my desktop became a junk drawer and I didn't notice for 8 months
I finally opened my desktop folder last Tuesday to find a file and counted 214 items sitting loose on it. Screenshots, a PDF of a permit, three versions of the same spreadsheet, all just dumped there because it was the fastest place to save. What fixed it was one dumb rule: everything saved to the desktop goes into a folder called "sort me" at the end of the day, and Friday I spend 10 minutes emptying that folder. Took two weeks to build the habit but my desktop stayed under 10 icons for a month now. Curious how the rest of you handle the drop zone problem, do you use a scratch folder or just save straight to the right place from the start?
