A contractor on my last job said deadline dates are just a suggestion, I disagree
I was on a kitchen remodel in Austin last month and the lead contractor told me he sets his schedule two weeks ahead of what he tells the homeowner, just so any hiccup doesn't blow the timeline. He said the extra cushion keeps his stress down and his reputation up, and it made me think about how I run my own design file organization. Do you guys build in buffer time for sorting folders and naming conventions before a big handoff, or do you just hit the deadline raw and deal with the chaos?

Oh wow, the real trick isn't the buffer itself, it's that he only tells the client the padded date and never the real one, so the cushion works because nobody knows it's there. The second you admit you're padding, the client starts treating your real deadline like it's still flexible.
