Was skeptical about those community solar gardens...

I signed up for a community solar garden through a program in my county about 8 months ago. Honestly I thought it was just another way for the utility to charge more fees. But after my first 3 months my electric bill dropped by $18 on average and I didn't have to install anything on my roof. Has anyone else tried one of these and seen actual savings?

Oh man, I was the exact same way. Thought it was a scam or just a way for the power company to pocket more money. But my neighbor kept bugging me about it so I finally signed up last year. My bill dropped by about $15 a month in the summer and a little less in winter. The part that really got me was I didn't have to do anything, no panels on my roof, no maintenance, just a lower bill every month. Still feels a little weird to be honest, like someone is giving me free money.

My neighbor was the same way with me about community solar. It's funny how we get so used to getting ripped off by utility companies that we don't trust anything that actually helps.
