Talking to my neighbor who works for a solar farm changed how I see renewable energy

He said they actually have to dump power sometimes because the grid can't handle it, and that made me realize building more panels isn't the only answer. Have you all looked into fixing grid storage where you live?

Honestly, this really hit home. I live in an area where they finally installed a big battery system at a local substation, and it made a huge difference. Before that, we had a few blackouts on sunny days because the grid got overloaded, but now the battery soaks up the extra power and releases it when demand spikes. Local utilities do offer rebates for home batteries too, I got a small one for my garage that stores power from the rooftop panels. Tbh, it's worth checking your state's energy office website or even just calling the power company to ask about grid storage plans.

Man, that's exactly what I've been saying. My cousin works for a utility company and he told me they sometimes have to pay other states to take their excess solar power instead of just storing it. It really makes you wonder why we're not putting more money into pumped hydro or those big battery banks instead of just slapping up more panels.
