Switched to a heat pump water heater and my electric bill dropped $40 last month

Our old water heater in our Atlanta house was a real energy hog. I finally got a Rheem hybrid model installed, and it cut our hot water energy use by more than half. Has anyone else made this switch and seen similar savings, or did you run into issues with installation?

How was the install process in your attic? Those units can be bulky. We looked into it a few years back but our utility room is too small for the extra space they need. Your savings sound amazing though, makes me want to look at it again.

My buddy had a crew cut a new access panel because his attic hatch was too small. They ended up having to reinforce some floor joists up there with extra plywood, which added a day to the job. The actual heat pump unit wasn't too bad, but getting all the ductwork reconnected in that tight space was a real puzzle.
