Saw a big difference after my neighbor switched to a heat pump last fall
My neighbor Jim put in a heat pump back in October to replace his old oil furnace... I remember him grumbling about the upfront cost of $7,500. Now he says his electric bill is actually lower than what he used to pay for oil, and the air in his house feels less dry. Has anyone here made the switch from oil to a heat pump and seen their bills drop that much?

Hear me out but my cousin's heat pump kept short cycling so badly last winter he switched back to oil after two months and now he's got a space heater in every room. Turns out his was installed way too small for his house!

Respectfully, I'd wait until a real cold snap hits before calling it a win. Those things lose efficiency fast when the temperature drops below freezing.
